From Mike Judge, one of the creative minds behind King of the Hill and Office Space, comes Idiocracy, an outrageous sci-fi comedy about a not-so-bright guy who awakens in the year 2505 to find a society so dumbed-down by mass commercialism and mindless TV programming that he's become the smartest guy on the planet. Filled with razor-sharp sarcasm and outrageous sight gags, Idiocracy will make you laugh out loud whether you're an... more

Are you in or out? The Project Runway season finale starts tonight, and once it wraps up (pun intended), we'll have to find something else to do on Wedsnesday nights for a while - like watch the second season of Project Runway on DVD. People magazine described the second season as "a seamless match of Survivor's competitive hunger and Zoolander's voguing nuttiness." The 3-disc box set features an exclusive Season 3 casting call, along... more

Last night we rented Afro-Punk, James Spooner's award-winning documentary about what it's like to be black in the (mostly white) American punk/hardcore scene. With no previous film-making experience, Spooner traveled the country to interview band members and fans alike. The result is an enjoyable, eye-opening film, one that you don't have to be a black punk rocker to appreciate. Note to selves: Buy all Bad Brains CDs.

We only recently discovered "House," the television series that TV Guide calls "the uncommon cure for the common medical drama." Hugh Laurie's character is equal parts doctor and detective, genius and jerk, and there's something fun about watching someone get away with being so rude. The second season of House comes out this week, with guest appearances by Ron Livingston, Sela Ward, Cynthia Nixon, and LL Cool J. Get the first season of... more

If you can't get in touch with us for a few days, it's because we're holed up at home, phones off, watching all 12 episodes of The Wire: Season 3. In a row. It's been almost a year since our Season 2 marathon, when McNulty, Barksdale, and Stringer Bell were the most important people in our lives, so we're eager to suspend reality and pick up where we left off with our favorite HBO... more

The following is a Public Service Announcement: Don't waste your time or your money on the Miami Vice movie, which we suffered through last night. The plot was weak, the dialogue weaker, and while Jamie Foxx was OK as Tubbs, let's just say Colin Farrell is no Don Johnson. For true 1980s crimefighting fun, with lots of pastel suits, explosions, speedboat chases, overgrown facial hair, and Jan Hammer mood music, there's nothing like the more

We have a new favorite movie: Everything is Illuminated. Based on the critically-acclaimed novel by Jonathan Safran Foer, "Everything Is Illuminated" is the story of a young Jewish American (Elijah Wood) who travels to the Ukraine to solve a family secret, and his fall-off-your-chair-hysterical Ukrainian tour guide (Eugene Hutz, member of the folk-punk band Gogol Bordello).

Sarah Silverman's Jesus is Magic, which just came out on DVD, is one of the funniest films we've seen in a while. It's mostly stand-up comedy, with a few musical skits thrown in. But it's not for everyone. NPR says "Silverman's comedy is marked by a willingness to offend," while Rotten Tomatoes says "Silverman's brand of humor is dirty, offensive, and, judging from this film, very, very funny," and Walmart isn't carrying the DVD... more
