Now on DVD: The Wire - The Complete Fifth Season

Several months ago we were regularly volunteering to babysit for our friends with fancy on-demand cable, just so we could watch episodes from the final season of The Wire. We never did get to see all of them, but as of today, Season 5 of The Wire is out on DVD, so you'll know where to find us when we're not at work - glued to the sofa, in front of the TV. The official teaser reads: "Times are tough for the detail. Mayor Carcetti has slashed the departments budget to the bone. Police are operating without overtime, some without cars and radios. Angered, McNulty is off the rails again and headed down a dangerous path of deception and lies that will ally him with an unscrupulous reporter. The drug trade still rules the corners, all you have to do is read between the lines."

Breaking Dawn

Spotted: Breaking Dawn, the much-hyped final book in Stephenie Meyer's bestselling Twilight saga, in the hands of thousands of women and girls dying to know if Bella will marry Edward and finally and permanently join the Cullen family. If you like stories about vampires, werewolves, and high school love, check out this series. Or be lazy like us and wait for the movie versions. Twilight hits theaters December 12th.

iPod 90210

There's a new 90210 series premiering on the CW in September. We're guessing that CBS, the parent company of the CW (and mySimon), has released this limited-edition iPod Nano 90210 in order to promote the new series. But it's decorated with laser-etched images of the cast from the original TV series. We're holding out for an iPod engraved with Omar from "The Wire," but if you like the idea of a 90210 iPod you better act fast; there are only 2000 of them.

Talking Wicked Witch Of The West

We have vivid childhood memories of watching The Wizard of Oz from underneath a table, because the Wicked Witch scared the $@%& out of us. So we're a little freaked out by this life-size (5'2") statue of the witch, complete with green skin, gnashed teeth, and chin wart. And she talks if you put 2 AA batteries in her. We're not sure what you'd actually do with her, other than decorate your lawn on Halloween or hang your ruby slippers on her hands, but she's all yours for just $2500 from Hammacher Schlemmer (or $125 for the 17" version).
